Welcome to the Museum of Calligraphy and the History of Writing!

The mission of the Museum of Calligraphy and the History of Writing is to protect entrusted but now forgotten cultural heritage, disseminate the knowledge about the history of writing, as well as its role in the past and present development of verbal communication.

The Museum of Calligraphy and the History of Writing is to be a modern institution, understood as the place for workshops, classes, lectures and talks, as well as other forms of meetings, during which problems concerning contemporary history of writing with an emphasis on school writing will be discussed. One of the main objectives of the Museum of Calligraphy and the History of Writing is to regain the importance to the learning of writing in initial education of primary schools, as well as to help those teachers for whom the problem of the decline of handwriting skills is not indifferent.

The character of the collection of MKHP and all its activity aim to ask important questions about the theory of writing in order to make Museum the significant didactic centre. According to this principle, the collections of items related with writing are gathered, exhibiting, publishing and education activities are prepared.
